Administrative Buildung Karmelitergasse 9, Complete Refurbishment Including Attic Conversion and Extension

The existing neo-baroque structure is transformed into a connected, open and modern administrative building with diverse visual lines and spaces inviting to citizens. The grand staircase remains the connecting center. Adjacent atria are converted into courtyards with glass roofs. Two staircases that become part of the secure escape routes allow for valuable vertical connection of the grand staircase, which is available to all visitors but is not used as an escape route. This ensures improved access and navigation as well as open lines of sight between all functional units.
